Tropical Storm Lowell, currently located near 29.2°N and 165.1°W, is experiencing weakening due to moderate westerly wind shear, dry air intrusion, and marginally warm sea-surface temperatures. As of 5:00 PM HST on September 9, 2026, Lowell's maximum sustained winds are estimated at 45 knots (50 mph or 80 km/h). The storm is moving westward at 12 knots (14 mph or 22 km/h) under the influence of a low- to mid-level ridge to its north. Forecast models suggest a sharp turn to the northwest or north within 60-72 hours, followed by a transition to a post-tropical low by September 14,
