Impact & Risks

Hurricane conditions are expected in the warning areas by Thursday, with tropical storm conditions developing as early as tonight. Large surf generated by Lala is expected to inundate low-lying atolls, particularly from French Frigate Shoals to Maro Reef. These conditions pose significant risks to life and property in the affected areas. Residents and authorities in the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument should finalize preparations immediately. The storm's strong winds and heavy surf could lead to localized flooding and structural damage.
