A tropical disturbance in the eastern Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring heavy rainfall and potential flooding to parts of Florida and the southeastern United States.
The National Hurricane Center has given the system a 20% chance of development within 48 hours and a 30% chance over the next seven days.

Impact & Risks

The primary risk from this system is heavy rainfall, which could lead to street and low-lying-area flooding in west-central and southwest Florida. AccuWeather forecasts broader rainfall impacts, with totals of 1 to 4 inches across central Florida, southern Georgia, and parts of Alabama and Mississippi. Isolated areas could see up to 8 inches. While the system is not expected to develop into a major storm, residents in affected areas should remain vigilant.
