The availability of flood inundation mapping for a majority of the U.S. population significantly enhances the ability of communities to prepare for and respond to potential flooding events. However, some areas in Alaska remain without complete flood mapping, which could leave certain regions vulnerable to unexpected flood risks. The restored mapping services are expected to benefit emergency responders, local governments, and residents in flood-prone areas by providing timely and accurate data to mitigate risks.
