Grand Canyon Flash Flood Death Toll Rises to Three
• The body of Timothy Allen Smith, a 53-year-old hiker from Wyoming, has been recovered near Crystal Rapids in the Grand Canyon. Smith was the last person missing after flash floods struck the area in late August
• The floods, caused by monsoon rains, devastated the Phantom Ranch area and damaged critical infrastructure, including the water pipeline serving the South Rim. Smith was on a hiking trip with two companions, whose bodies were found earlier. Over 80 people were rescued during the flooding.
