Parts of Texas are experiencing dangerous flash flooding following days of heavy rainfall, which has already claimed two lives.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency for Sonora in Sutton County, located about 170 miles northwest of San Antonio.

Impact & Risks

The flooding has caused significant disruptions, with over 200 people rescued by emergency personnel using boats and helicopters. Two fatalities have been reported, including a driver swept away near Uvalde and a resident whose mobile home was carried into Goat Creek. The Guadalupe River, which caused catastrophic flooding last year, is nearing dangerous levels again. Approximately 6 million residents across Texas are under flood watches, with risks of property damage, road closures, and further evacuations.
