Severe flooding has struck Texas Hill Country following days of heavy rainfall, with rivers rising rapidly and prompting widespread evacuations.
The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings, describing the situation as a 'large and deadly flood wave.' Over 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm) of rain have fallen in the past two days, with some areas receiving 8 inches (20 cm) in just two hours.

Impact & Risks

The flooding has already claimed at least one life, with thousands of residents displaced or stranded. Communities in Uvalde, Kerrville, and Ingram are particularly affected, with homes and businesses inundated. The Guadalupe River's rapid rise poses a significant threat to infrastructure and safety, especially in areas still recovering from last year’s floods. Emergency services are stretched thin, with over 1,300 personnel deployed for rescue and relief efforts. The disaster has also disrupted transportation and communication, isolating several towns.
