Steering wheels, child seats and dashboards: how quickly a parked Indian car interior turns into an oven

During India's intense summers, parked cars can rapidly become dangerously hot, posing a heatstroke risk, especially for children.
Experts advise never leaving children or pets unattended, airing out the car before entry, using sunshades, and covering dark surfaces.
Recognizing heatstroke symptoms and staying hydrated are also crucial for safety.

Why It's Important?

According to experts, on a typical sunny day in India, with outside temperatures hovering around 35°C (95°F), the interior of a car can reach a staggering 50°C (122°F) to 60°C (140°F) within just 20 to 30 minutes. Dark-colored dashboards and steering wheels absorb more heat, becoming scorching to the touch. Child seats, often made of synthetic materials, can also retain extreme heat, causing burns upon contact.
