Cold Weather and Full Moon Expected in Adirondacks This Weekend
US · Published May 29, 2026
The Adirondack region is set to experience a mix of cold weather and scenic natural events this weekend, according to North Country Public Radio.
High Peaks summit wind chills are forecasted to remain near freezing, with temperatures dropping into the teens and 20s on Saturday.
A full moon, the farthest from Earth this year, will be visible on Sunday.

Why It's Important?

Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts in the Adirondacks should prepare for cold and potentially snowy conditions, especially at higher elevations. The freezing temperatures and wind chills could pose risks of hypothermia for those unprepared. Additionally, while water levels are manageable, caution is advised during stream crossings. The ongoing mud season may also make trails slippery and challenging to navigate.
