An extreme heat watch has been issued for much of Upstate New York as dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected to develop ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed Central, Eastern, and parts of Southern New York under an extreme heat watch from Wednesday morning through Friday evening.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and individuals with chronic health conditions. Prolonged exposure to high heat and humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Counties under the extreme heat watch include Albany, Onondaga, Broome, and many others across Central, Eastern, and Southern New York. Residents are urged to take precautions to avoid heat-related health issues.
