Impact & Risks

The stubble-burning incidents contribute significantly to air pollution, which can exacerbate respiratory issues and reduce air quality in affected regions. Punjab, being a major contributor, faces heightened risks of smog formation, particularly in urban areas like Amritsar. The cumulative impact across seven states could lead to regional air quality deterioration, affecting millions of residents. Immediate mitigation measures are crucial to prevent further environmental and health hazards.
