The expansion of the Tsunami-Ready Programme is expected to significantly reduce coastal vulnerability in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Communities in these regions are at high risk due to their proximity to the Sumatra-Andaman Subduction Zone, a known hotspot for seismic activity. Enhanced early warning systems and evacuation planning aim to minimise loss of life and property during tsunami events. However, the effectiveness of these measures depends on community participation and inter-agency coordination. Coastal residents and local authorities must remain vigilant and adhere to preparedness protocols to mitigate risks.
