The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for heavy rainfall at isolated locations across several states and union territories in India over the coming days.
On 17 September, heavy rainfall is very likely in areas including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Punjab, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim.

Impact & Risks

The forecasted heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily activities in the affected regions. Coastal areas, particularly in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, may experience heightened risks due to the intensity of rainfall. Agricultural activities could also be impacted, especially in regions dependent on dry weather for harvesting. Residents in urban areas may face traffic disruptions and delays due to waterlogging.
