• A well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central and southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by the morning of 26 October 2026, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
• The system is forecast to move west-northwestwards, reaching the west-central Bay of Bengal near the Andhra Pradesh coast by the morning of 28 October.

Impact & Risks

The developing cyclonic storm poses a significant risk of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and other eastern and central Indian states. Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are particularly vulnerable to strong winds and rough sea conditions, which could disrupt fishing and maritime activities. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the affected areas of the Bay of Bengal. The situation in Meghalaya remains uncertain, as the state has not been specifically identified for heavy rainfall, but authorities are monitoring the system closely.
