• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a depression on 24 October, a deep depression on 25 October, and a cyclonic storm by the morning of 26 October.
• The system is projected to move towards the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts, with a potential approach around 28 October.

Impact & Risks

The potential cyclonic storm could bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to parts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha. Coastal areas in these regions may face risks of flooding, storm surges, and disruptions to daily life. Fishermen and coastal communities are particularly vulnerable, as rough sea conditions are expected to develop. The Odisha government has already issued warnings to its administration and advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea.
