• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across 13 states in India over the coming days. A depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm, likely crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur on the morning of November
• Wind speeds are predicted to reach 100-110 kmph, with gusts up to 120 kmph. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are expected to experience heavy rainfall on November 1, with very heavy rainfall at isolated places on November

Impact & Risks

The severe cyclonic storm poses a significant risk to coastal Andhra Pradesh, with high wind speeds and heavy rainfall potentially causing disruptions to daily life, damage to infrastructure, and flooding. States such as Odisha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala may also face localised flooding and waterlogging due to heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms and gusty winds could lead to power outages and tree falls in affected areas. Higher-altitude regions in Himachal Pradesh may experience light snowfall, which could impact travel and daily activities.
