• A well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea has intensified into a depression as of 31 October
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that the system will strengthen into a deep depression and potentially develop into Cyclone Murasu by 1 November. The storm is expected to approach the Andhra Pradesh coast by the evening of 2 November, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds. Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and southern Odisha are also likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall during this period. Wind speeds may reach 80–90 kmph, with gusts up to 100 kmph.

Impact & Risks

The approaching Cyclone Murasu poses risks to coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. Heavy rainfall and strong winds could lead to flooding, damage to infrastructure, and crop losses, particularly in areas still recovering from Cyclone Arnab. Farmers in Andhra Pradesh are concerned about further damage to standing crops. Rough sea conditions are expected along the Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts, posing risks to fishermen and coastal communities. Relief and repair operations in Odisha may be hampered by additional rainfall.
