• A severe weather pattern is impacting the Southwest, bringing heavy rain and a significant flood risk.
• The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a level three out of four flood risk for much of central and northern Arizona, with parts of Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah also affected.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall is exacerbating already saturated conditions in the Southwest, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Arizona has been particularly affected, with emergency crews conducting rescues in Phoenix and Scottsdale. The Four Corners region is experiencing significant impacts, with flood watches issued for nearly all of Arizona and parts of Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. The storm's eastward movement will place nearly 40 million Americans under a flash flood threat from Texas to Wisconsin by Monday. Saturated soils and ongoing rainfall make even small amounts of additional precipitation potentially hazardous.
