• The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring a potential system in the Atlantic that could develop subtropical characteristics later this week.
• An area of low pressure is expected to form along a weakening frontal boundary a few hundred miles northeast of the Bahamas.

Impact & Risks

The potential Atlantic system poses no immediate threat to land but could bring subtropical weather conditions to parts of the western Atlantic. In Central Florida, heavy rainfall has already caused significant disruptions, including school closures and hazardous road conditions. Motorists are advised to exercise caution as flooding remains a concern. The slow Atlantic hurricane season, influenced by a strong El Niño, has seen only one hurricane, Isaias, which made landfall in Florida as a Category 2 storm.
