A 'red warning' has been issued for Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts, while an 'orange warning' is in place for 11 other districts. The state government has mobilized 100 rescue teams and senior officials to oversee relief efforts.

Impact & Risks

The ongoing floods have disrupted the lives of over five lakh residents in northern Odisha, with Bhadrak and Jajpur being the worst-hit districts. The heavy rainfall has caused river embankments to weaken, posing a risk of further flooding. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough conditions in the North Bay of Bengal. The closure of schools and cancellation of employee leaves highlight the severity of the situation. Vulnerable areas face heightened risks of landslides and infrastructure damage.
