Regions in eastern and central India, particularly those with monsoon deficits, are likely to benefit from the upcoming rainfall. However, uneven distribution of rainfall remains a concern, with states like Meghalaya, Manipur, and Bihar facing significant shortfalls of up to 58%. While Ladakh and Odisha have recorded surplus rainfall, the overall monsoon deficit for India stands at 13%, with 587.8 mm of rainfall received against a normal of 679.5 mm. The developing systems could help alleviate deficits but may also lead to localised flooding in areas receiving heavy rainfall.
