Tropical Depression Odds Drop Near Bermuda
US · Published Sep 18, 2026
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has reported decreasing chances for a tropical depression to form east of Bermuda.
Initially, the trough of low pressure had a 40% chance of development within two to seven days, but this has now been reduced to 20%.

Impact & Risks

The reduced likelihood of tropical development near Bermuda means minimal immediate risk to coastal areas. However, slight development remains possible, and residents in the region should stay informed. The quiet hurricane season has been attributed to El Niño conditions, which have historically limited storm formation. While the current system poses little threat, the Atlantic hurricane season remains active, and conditions could change rapidly.
