• Heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life across Madhya Pradesh, particularly in Bhopal and surrounding districts.
• The Bhopal district administration declared a holiday on 10 August 2026 for students from Nursery to Class 12 in all government, private, and aided schools due to the adverse weather conditions.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall has caused widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and the closure of schools in multiple districts, including Bhopal and Dindori. Overflowing water bodies and disrupted road connectivity have raised concerns, particularly in low-lying areas and near bridges. Shajapur received around four inches of rain in just six hours, while other districts like Raisen, Sehore, and Shyampur are experiencing swollen rivers and streams. The IMD has issued an orange warning for extremely heavy rainfall in districts such as Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sehore, Harda, and Dewas, with some areas expected to receive up to eight inches of rain within 24 hours.
