IN · Published Sep 7, 2026
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for heavy rainfall across several states, including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and parts of North East India, until tomorrow.
Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu during the same period.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall and thunderstorms could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily life in the affected regions. Lightning poses a significant risk to life and property, particularly in areas with open fields or limited shelter. Hot and humid conditions in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Mahe may cause discomfort and health risks, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.
