• Cyclone Arnab, after making landfall along the Andhra Pradesh-Yanam coast, is causing significant rainfall across various regions in India.
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings for Bihar, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha on Thursday.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily activities across affected regions. Gusty winds, reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph with gusts up to 50 kmph, could pose risks to infrastructure and transportation. Hailstorms in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh may damage crops and property. States like Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh are particularly vulnerable to heavy rainfall, which could exacerbate existing water-related challenges. Residents in coastal areas and regions under yellow warnings should remain vigilant.
