A series of strong to severe thunderstorms impacted parts of New England on June 18, 2026, with the National Weather Service issuing a tornado watch for areas including western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and northern Connecticut.
The watch, initially set from 10 a.m.

Why It's Important?

The severe weather posed risks of property damage from strong winds and hail, as well as localized flooding in areas under flood watches. A brief tornado could have caused additional hazards, particularly in central and eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Fallen trees, such as one reported in Rutland, Massachusetts, highlighted the potential for travel disruptions and power outages. Wind gusts up to 50 mph in Vermont added to the risks, particularly for outdoor activities and unsecured objects.
