Connecticut is bracing for potentially record-breaking heat this week, with temperatures forecast to reach the 90s in several areas.
According to the Greenwich Time, Bridgeport could approach its May 19 record high of 89°F (32°C), set in 2017, with a forecast high near 90°F (32°C).
Hartford is also expected to see highs in the upper 80s on Tuesday, though below its May 18 record of 96°F (36°C).

Why It's Important?

The unseasonably high temperatures could pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. Prolonged exposure to heat may lead to heat-related illnesses, especially in areas where overnight temperatures remain elevated. Outdoor activities and energy consumption for cooling systems are likely to increase, potentially straining local resources.
