Southern California to See Cooler Temperatures and Lower Humidity
• Southern California is set to experience a break from the recent stretch of heat and humidity, with temperatures forecasted to drop slightly below average starting Monday, 31 August
• According to Bryan Lewis, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service's Oxnard office, this trend is expected to continue throughout the week. Coastal areas may still experience some lingering humidity due to warm water temperatures, but overall moisture levels will be significantly lower compared to the previous week. The recent spike in humidity was attributed to the remnants of Tropical Storm Iselle. Additionally, there is a possibility of rain over the upcoming Labour Day weekend, linked to a developing tropical system off the coast of Mexico.

The cooler and less humid conditions will provide relief to residents after a period of uncomfortable weather. However, the potential tropical system developing off Mexico could bring higher surf and stronger rip currents to Southern California's coastal areas during the Labour Day weekend. This poses risks to beachgoers and those engaging in water activities. Meanwhile, wildfires in Monterey County have already burned over 33,000 acres and forced the evacuation of more than 600 people, highlighting ongoing fire risks in the region.
