Cool, Cloudy, and Drizzly Week Ahead for Southern California
US · Published May 27, 2026
Southern California is experiencing a period of cool, cloudy, and windy weather this week due to a low-pressure system moving south from the Pacific Northwest.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Oxnard office, this system is bringing temperatures 5–15°F below average, with highs in the mid-60s to low 60s through Thursday.
Inland areas, including mountains and deserts, could see temperatures drop 20–25°F below normal.

Why It's Important?

The cooler temperatures and gusty winds will primarily affect coastal areas, mountains, and desert slopes. Morning drizzle and light rain could lead to slick roads, particularly during early commutes. The significant temperature drop in inland areas may also impact outdoor activities and agriculture. Breezy conditions across coastal waters could pose challenges for small watercraft. While the weather is not expected to be severe, the persistent cloud cover and cooler conditions may disrupt typical late-May activities in the region.
