Millions across California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington are under heat advisories as dangerously high temperatures persist.
According to Newsweek, parts of California’s Central Valley, including Fresno and Bakersfield, could see highs exceeding 103°F (39°C), with some valleys nearing 112°F (44°C).

Why It's Important?

The extreme heat poses significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as older adults, children, and outdoor workers. Prolonged exposure can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke, which can be life-threatening. Additionally, warm overnight temperatures may exacerbate the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents without access to air conditioning are especially at risk, and officials warn of potential dangers from cold-water shock in rivers and lakes despite the hot weather.
