The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued alerts for heavy to excessive rainfall that could lead to flooding across parts of the central Plains, Midwest, and southern regions of Arizona and New Mexico.
Additionally, scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are anticipated to impact areas of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa later today into the early evening.

Impact & Risks

Flooding risks are significant in areas experiencing heavy rainfall, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone regions of the central Plains, Midwest, and parts of Arizona and New Mexico. Severe thunderstorms in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa may bring damaging winds, hail, and localized power outages. Heat Advisories in east Texas and the mid-Mississippi Valley pose health risks, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and prepared for potential disruptions.
