Heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has caused significant disruptions, including flash floods in the Pangi subdivision of Chamba district.
On Monday, three labourers were trapped in a flooded stream in the Holi area of Bharmour subdivision but were successfully rescued by local residents.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rains and flash floods have caused immediate damage to agricultural lands and public infrastructure, affecting local livelihoods and transportation. The blocked highway disrupted travel and trade, highlighting the risks of inadequate infrastructure management during monsoon seasons. Furthermore, the retreat of glaciers in the Sutlej basin poses a long-term threat to the state's hydropower sector, potentially impacting energy production and revenue generation. These events underscore the vulnerability of the region to both immediate and long-term environmental challenges.
