• A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is showing signs of intensifying into a cyclonic storm, which will be named Cyclone Arnab if it forms. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has reported that the system is currently located 810 km south of Chattogram Port, 730 km south of Cox's Bazar Port, 850 km south of Mongla Port, and 780 km south of Payra Port as of 12:00 PM GMT on 25 October
• The depression is moving northwest and is expected to strengthen into a cyclone by Monday. It may later shift direction towards the West Bengal–north Odisha coast and potentially make landfall on Andhra Pradesh's coast as a very severe cyclonic storm by Wednesday. Winds near the depression's centre are currently reaching speeds of 50 km/h, with gusts up to 60 km/h, and the sea remains rough in the vicinity.

Impact & Risks

The potential cyclone poses a significant risk to coastal areas in India, particularly Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Odisha. High winds, heavy rainfall, and rough seas are expected, which could lead to flooding, damage to infrastructure, and disruption of daily life. Ports in Bangladesh, including Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra, have been advised to hoist distant warning Signal No. 1. Fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been instructed to move closer to the coast and exercise caution. Residents in the potential impact zones should prepare for severe weather conditions.
