• According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is forecast to move northwestwards and reach the west-central Bay of Bengal near the Andhra Pradesh coast by the morning of 28 October.

Impact & Risks

The impending cyclone poses significant risks to coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, particularly between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam. High wind speeds of up to 140 kmph could lead to structural damage, uprooting of trees, and disruption of power and communication lines. Ports such as Chennai, Nagapattinam, and Cuddalore are on alert, and rough seas are expected, which could impact maritime activities. Heavy rainfall is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, affecting transportation and daily life.
