The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall across India on Wednesday, September 2, driven by a well-marked low-pressure system over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in central India, including Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh, as well as in northern and eastern states such as Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Impact & Risks

Heavy rainfall across central, northern, and eastern India may lead to waterlogging, localised flooding, and disruptions to transportation and daily activities. Hilly regions such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand face risks of landslides and flash floods. Coastal areas in Karnataka may experience slippery roads and reduced visibility due to persistent rain. Residents in affected areas should remain vigilant and follow local advisories.
