• An extreme heat warning remains in effect for central, northern, and southern Cook County, Illinois, for the third consecutive day. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), heat indices are expected to climb between 100°F and 105°F (37.8°C to 40.6°C) on Thursday, September 3,
• The warning is set to expire at 7 p.m. CDT. Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport report partly cloudy skies with temperatures at 80°F (26.7°C). A 40% chance of thunderstorms is forecast after 1 p.m. CDT, with highs in the low 90s (32.2°C to 33.9°C). Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to the low 70s (21.1°C to 22.8°C). The heat wave has caused disruptions, including buckling bridges in Chicago, and has prompted Chicago Public Schools to cancel or move outdoor activities indoors.
