• The National Weather Service warns of torrential rainfall, with some areas potentially receiving up to two inches of rain per hour. Counties in Illinois, including Cook, DuPage, and Kane, as well as parts of northwest Indiana, are under the watch. High soil moisture and elevated stream flows increase the risk of flooding. Additionally, a beach hazard warning is in effect for Lake Michigan until 4 a.m. Thursday, with waves reaching 4 to 7 feet and dangerous currents. Current conditions at O’Hare and Midway airports report light rain and temperatures of 57°F (14°C).

The primary risks include flash flooding in urban and low-lying areas, as well as rising creeks and streams. Dangerous swimming conditions are expected along Lake Michigan due to high waves and strong currents.
