Colorado Promotes Dark Sky Tourism with New Stargazing Trail
US · Published Jun 10, 2026
Colorado is expanding its efforts to promote dark sky tourism by creating a 'stargazing trail' that connects some of the state's best locations for viewing the night sky.
The initiative, led by the Colorado Tourism Office, aims to highlight the state's 13 DarkSky-certified state parks and eight certified communities.

Why It's Important?

The stargazing trail is expected to boost tourism in rural and remote areas of Colorado, providing economic benefits to local communities. By reducing light pollution, these efforts also contribute to environmental conservation and the preservation of natural nightscapes. However, increased tourism may require careful management to ensure that the ecological integrity of these areas is maintained.
