A tragic incident occurred in Cocke County, Tennessee, where a 64-year-old woman lost her life after being swept away by swift floodwaters near her home.
According to Sheriff C.J.
Ball of the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was outside her residence near a vehicle when the strong current carried her downstream.

Why It's Important?

The flash flooding poses significant risks to residents in Cocke and Greene counties, with the potential for additional fatalities, property damage, and road closures. The swift water conditions have already proven deadly, and continued rainfall increases the likelihood of further flooding. Transportation disruptions, such as the closure of State Route 160, highlight the dangers to both residents and emergency responders. Those in low-lying areas or near water bodies are particularly vulnerable to sudden water surges.
