The landslide has significantly disrupted the flow of the Chaulani River, posing a heightened risk of flooding in downstream areas. Over 32,000 people in Nepal have been affected by the floods and landslides since 26th August. The death toll has surpassed 1,300, with more than 5,300 people still missing. The situation is particularly concerning for the 275 missing Indians, as well as the thousands of displaced residents in Nepal. The blocked river could lead to further flooding, endangering lives and property in the affected regions.
