Delhi-NCR enforces pollution curbs: 50% office attendance, construction ban from Nov 5
IN · Published Nov 1, 2026
• The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has announced preventive measures to curb air pollution in Delhi-NCR ahead of the winter smog season.
• From 5th to 20th November 2026, government and private offices in Delhi and five adjoining districts—Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar—must limit physical attendance to 50%, with the remaining staff working remotely.

Impact & Risks

The restrictions are expected to impact daily operations for businesses and construction projects across Delhi-NCR. Commuters and employees may face logistical challenges due to the 50% office attendance cap, while construction agencies will need to halt dust-producing activities, potentially delaying project timelines. The measures are designed to reduce pollution levels, which typically spike in November due to local emissions, agricultural residue burning, and unfavourable weather conditions. However, the effectiveness of these restrictions will depend on compliance and enforcement, as well as atmospheric factors that influence pollutant dispersal.
