Delhi enforces construction ban and WFH to tackle winter pollution
• Delhi has announced a phased construction and demolition ban as part of its Winter Pollution Action Plan, which will be in effect from 1 November 2026 to 31 January
• The restrictions will tighten further between 10 December and 20 January, with a complete ban on construction activities except for essential public infrastructure and emergency work. The plan also includes vehicle restrictions, higher parking charges, staggered office timings, and a 50% work-from-home (WFH) arrangement for government and private offices. These measures aim to address pollution sources such as road dust, waste burning, and traffic congestion. The government has also equipped 723 construction sites with monitoring systems and plans to strengthen enforcement through AI-enabled systems.
