• A fresh western disturbance is expected to bring light rain and snowfall to the northern hill states of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. However, the northern plains, including Delhi-NCR, are likely to remain dry until 8th November
• Meanwhile, Cyclone Murasu, which weakened after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast, is causing rainfall in southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Mahe, and Karaikal until 8th November. Air pollution remains a significant concern in Delhi-NCR, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching severe levels, including 463 in Delhi, 456 in Noida, and 426 in Greater Noida.

Impact & Risks

The western disturbance is expected to have a limited impact on the northern plains, but hilly regions may experience light rain and snowfall, potentially affecting travel and daily activities. In southern India, the remnants of Cyclone Murasu are likely to cause continued rainfall, which could lead to waterlogging and disruptions in affected areas. Severe air pollution in Delhi-NCR poses health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
