The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain in Delhi towards the night of August 11,
Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 30-32°C, which is below normal by 1.6°C to 3.0°C. Surface winds will predominantly come from the southeast direction, with speeds reaching up to 15 kmph during the afternoon, decreasing to 12 kmph in the evening and night. Additionally, a low-pressure area is likely to form over Northwest India on August 12, 2026, influencing widespread rainfall in regions such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand from August 11-17.

Impact & Risks

Residents of Delhi can expect cooler-than-usual temperatures, which may provide relief from typical summer heat. However, the forecasted rainfall in Northwest India could lead to localized flooding in vulnerable areas, particularly in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Flash flood risks remain low but are possible in specific watersheds. Farmers and fishery operators in affected regions are advised to take precautions to protect crops, livestock, and aquaculture setups from excess water damage.
