Delhi and neighbouring states see heavy rain due to low-pressure system
IN · Published Sep 6, 2026
Delhi experienced heavy rainfall on Sunday, influenced by a low-pressure area over southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that this system is likely to move east-northeastwards within the next 24 hours.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in urban areas, particularly in Delhi and other affected regions. Agricultural activities in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab could benefit from the rain, but excessive rainfall might pose risks of localised flooding. Residents in low-lying areas should remain cautious.
