• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast contrasting weather conditions across India for November
• Northern and central regions, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, are expected to experience dry weather with clear skies. Maximum temperatures in Delhi are likely to range between 27-29°C, while minimum temperatures may settle between 15-17°C. Meanwhile, southern India is set to witness another spell of rainfall, with isolated heavy showers predicted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe. Thunderstorms with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are also expected in these areas. The rainfall is attributed to a trough in easterly winds extending from the southeast Arabian Sea towards south interior Karnataka.

Impact & Risks

Dry conditions in northern India may lead to shallow fog mixed with pollution during morning hours, particularly in Delhi-NCR. This could impact air quality and visibility. In southern India, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may cause localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily activities, especially in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Mahe. Gusty winds could pose risks to weak structures and trees, while slippery roads may increase the likelihood of accidents.
