Delhi Introduces Preventive Winter Pollution Measures
Delhi Introduces Preventive Winter Pollution Measures
IN · Published Sep 28, 2026
• Delhi has announced a new winter pollution plan aimed at addressing the annual smog crisis more proactively.
• Unlike previous years, where emergency measures were implemented only after air quality deteriorated, the city will now enforce a fixed set of preventive actions from 1st November to 28th February each year.

Impact & Risks

The new measures aim to mitigate the severe air pollution that typically blankets Delhi during winter, reducing health risks associated with poor air quality. Residents, particularly those with respiratory conditions, may benefit from improved air quality if the plan is effectively implemented. However, the restrictions could disrupt daily routines, especially for commuters and businesses reliant on construction activities. The success of the plan will depend on strict enforcement and public cooperation.
