Delhi Implements Non-BS-VI Vehicle Restrictions to Combat Winter Pollution
IN · Published Oct 27, 2026
• Delhi has introduced restrictions on non-BS-VI vehicles registered outside the capital to curb winter pollution.
• Starting 1 November, vehicles failing to meet BS-VI emission standards will be barred from entering Delhi until 31 January.

Impact & Risks

The restrictions are expected to affect commuters travelling between Delhi and neighbouring NCR cities like Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. Around 10 lakh vehicles could be impacted, potentially causing inconvenience during the festive season, including Diwali and Dhanteras. Experts warn of enforcement difficulties due to staffing shortages and logistical challenges at entry points. Additionally, the policy may disproportionately affect individuals reliant on older vehicles, particularly those without access to reliable public transport alternatives.
