The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Tri-State region, including Evansville, Indiana, effective through Sunday.
Heat index values are expected to exceed 110°F (43°C) for prolonged periods, with daily high temperatures reaching the mid-90s°F (35°C) and upper 90s°F (37°C) over the weekend.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant health risks, especially for individuals exposed to prolonged outdoor conditions or engaging in physical activities without adequate hydration and rest. Vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions, are at higher risk of heat-related illnesses. The combination of high temperatures and humidity may also strain local infrastructure, including power grids and cooling systems.
