• The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the eastern Interior of Alaska, including areas east of Fairbanks, the Upper Tanana Valley, Delta Junction, and the Fortymile country.
• Heavy snow is forecast, with up to 12 inches expected around Delta Junction and up to 30 inches in Isabel Pass.

Impact & Risks

The heavy snow will make travel hazardous, particularly in higher-elevation areas like Isabel Pass. Lower-elevation regions, including Fairbanks, may experience reduced visibility during peak snowfall, with rates of up to 1 inch per hour. Commuters and school transportation may face challenges Tuesday afternoon and evening. Outlying areas, such as Salcha and Harding Lake, could see at least 6 inches of snow. Gusty winds may exacerbate conditions, leading to blowing snow and further reducing visibility (Source: KUAC.org).
